The Rocky Palladino
ROCKY PALLADINO
Writer/Director
His first feature, WAITING AT THE GATE, which depicts the final school days of four friends before their lives go in very different directions, has been acquired by SCREEN PROJEX, who have committed to completion funding and to market the film around the world. The film has screened and won awards at the Milano Film Festival, Strasbourg International Film Festival and San Francisco International Film Festival among others in Europe and America.
Pathe Films called it, “…an original and engaging piece of filmmaking”.
He has just completed the SCREEN PROJEX and ORIGIN FILMS title, BRITAIN ISN’T WORKING, a timely, short comedy set in a day where all forms of technology, transport and human interaction inexplicably break down.
INFINITE NOSTALGIA is at an advanced stage of development. The story centres on Sonny, a 28-year-old man who has Converse Disorder, a unique condition that means he can’t control what he says at any given time. Each spoken line is like a jigsaw piece that has to be connected to the right question. To most people, Sonny is just plain weird. He can’t help but cause embarrassing scenes in public. Although there are humorous moments, this also leads him to unwittingly become a suspect in a murder case.
Sonny wants what has eluded him his entire life- a simple, normal existence. Enter Joon- a new employee at Sonny’s local job centre- a hapless 20-something prone to self-destructive acts. She’s at a low point and unable to recover from her sister’s suicide a year ago. Sonny and Joon begin a ROMANCE set against a breathless and relentless London. But the lives of these two individuals, who attract so much chaos and attention, could never be happy for.
INFINITE NOSTALGIA is a love story for the 21st century that tackles the theme of how we communicate in the modern world. The main question it asks- with the many ways technology allows us to talk to each other, do we have anything meaningful to say?
